Your Soliloquy Triste went very well ... it is
emotional and its lyrical lines lend
themselves perfectly to a variety
expressions. It is for these reasons that I
ended my program with this lovely
unaccompanied work.
Allan von Schenkel Contrabass Soloist
Shortly after completing this work I was given the "official"
word by my Oncologist. After 3 years of successfully
holding back the disease, cancer had finally won the
battle. The doctors, family and friends believe that this
dramatic music was created because I somehow
anticipated the bad news and the emotional reactions
that would result. Anger/Fear then Stress/Anxiety finally
Acceptance/Resignation.
Ironically - when I first started I was planning a light suite
or sonatina with a scherzo, a love song slow dance, an
energetic dance movement ----- but these movements
evolved. My counselor (read psychologist – yes they
assigned me one of those) said I should share the music
with others as a release??? Of course I'm ornery enough
to continue to last well beyond their dire predictions!!!!
